BEFORE

Here's some tips on getting ready for your tattoo appointment.

Skincare before getting a tattoo:

Moisturise skin for at least 3 days daily before your appointment, this will help your ink settle so much better.

There's no need to shave beforehand. I will clean and shave for you on the day. If you have concerns or would like to discuss anything, feel free to email me beforehand.

The night before:

Avoid drinking alcohol and get some good rest.

On the day:

1. Make sure you eat before your appointment, bring water, or sugary drink and snacks/meal with you for a long session.

If this is your first tattoo, some sweets and/or sugary drink is a good choice.

2. Dress appropriately for your tattoo. Please consider your body placement, allow free access to the body area for me to work on. And wear something loose and comfy is always a good idea.

3. A small blanket might be a good idea, especially for a longer session or on a cold day.

4 . Bring your earphones if you'd like your own music or entertainment. I need to concentrate fully on the work so I won't be chatting during the actual application.

4. Please bring your valid ID with you.

AFTER

*aftercare is very important as the healing process will greatly impact the outcome of your tattoo. You’ve done the hard part already, so make sure you take care of your tattoo in the best way you can. *

On the day: I will apply a barrier film for your fresh tattoo and answer any question you have regarding aftercare. We'll discuss the suitability of the film and will provide alternative instructions if needed.

Day 1-Day 2: Keep the protective film on.

While the film is on, you can shower and you don't have to put any cream on top.  It is normal to see ink or/and plasma underneath the film, which may make the tattoo look "blurry".

**If the film starts to peel off and any part of the tattoo is exposed, take off the film as soon as possible and follow the next step "Day 3 and onwards". **

Day 3:  Take off the film and start applying aftercare cream.

Gently peel off the film under running water. Please note that if you use warm water, the the plaster may leave sticky residue on your skin.

After taking off the plaster, wash the tattoo with warm water and fragrance-free soap. Please do not scrub or rub the tattoo. You only need to use soap for cleaning today.

After cleaning, pat dry the tattoo with clean, good quality paper towel. Then apply a thin layer of aftercare cream. I recommend professional tattoo aftercare cream such as Bepanthen Tattoo Aftercare Oinment, or Bepanthen Antiseptic Cream. Both of them can be purchased from local pharmacies.

When applying, spread the cream thinly to transparent, make sure your skin is able to breathe and moisturised at the same time.

Day 4 onwards: Repeat the cleaning(no soap needed now) + cream application process above everyday, until it is fully healed. It might take 3-4 weeks for it to heal.

You can apply the cream for an additional 1-2 times per day as needed to keep the tattoo moisturised - make sure the tattoo is not wet, just moisturised.

Once it's healed, feel free to  share your healed photos with me. You can send them through Instagram or email them to me.

If any touchup is need, just drop me an email with a photo of the tattoo and I'll sort it out for you.

DON'Ts during healing:

- Don't drink alcohol on the first day of tattooing.

- No direct sunlight/sun exposure, no sunscreen while healing.
(After healed, I recommend using sunscreen on your tattoo for its longevity. )

- No swimming, bathing, tanning, sunbathing, sauna or steam room.

- No scratching your tattoo or picking, as this will result in patchy tattoos.

- Wear soft clothing and avoid tight clothing and rough materials.

- No makeup, perfume or other skincare products for the tattooed area.
